西班牙&E strengthens our local economy by building more equitable recruitment systems, growing career pathways in underserved populations, and ensuring the resilience of businesses and educational institutions in our service territory.
- 西班牙&E created the Construction Career Jumpstart Program with the San Diego Workforce Partnership to build a more diverse pipeline of candidates that includes increased women and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) representation for careers in construction.
- 西班牙&E co-founded the Black 社区 Investment Fund with The San Diego Foundation to increase racial equity and generational wealth for Black San Diegans.
- 2021年，可持续发展目标&E partnered with the California Restaurant Foundation and other California energy utilities to create the Restaurants Care - Resilience Fund. The statewide effort offered grant funding and a year of support services to more than 300 mom-and-pop restaurants to aid their post-pandemic recovery.

Building a highly qualified and diverse workforce is important to our region’s economic prosperity. 为此，可持续发展目标&E is collaborating with some of our vendors to expand workforce development opportunities in the construction and utility trades.
2022年，可持续发展目标&E partnered with one of our contractors, Jingoli权力, to host the first cohort of 13 trainees of African American descent from the Competitive Edge workforce development program at our Skills Training Facility in Mission Valley. This partnership allowed trainees to observe first-hand the variety of job opportunities available in the utility industry.
